Twiggy Floor Lamp by Foscarini

Marc Sadler is a genius for easy yet unimaginable solutions
- take Twiggy, for example, a light, flexible arc lamp.

One day he came into the firm and showed us something very interesting: a fishing rod.

Floor Lamps

The designer believes that the easy shape and flexibility of the material's execution makes Twiggy unique and dissimilar from the other products on the market: "The material is a carbon/fiberglass mix, put together with a binding resin. It has a high mechanical resistance and is highly light and ductile." The fact that it is ductile enables the creation of shapes that have been 'stretched' to the very limit and to regain unusually sized diffusers. The flexibility of the material defines the ample and significant curve of the arm that carries the light source from the base, which is height adjustable thanks to a ideas of counterweights, and length adjustable with a set of arm extensions.

Twiggy Floor Lamp is made up of linear sections, exactly like a fishing rod of the maintain for a tent. When it is taken apart it occupies very slight space and once it is assembled it curves harmoniously. A easy ideas of counterweights, in a space above the diffuser, allows the height to be adjusted at distances of 5 cm.

Twiggy's base is also inspired by the image of a fishing rod set in the ground, with a simple, light disc that does not take up much space. Yet, at the starting of the project, it was a solid metal body. Now it has come to be easy to insert anywhere, even by sliding it under a table, a chair or a carpet.

Twiggy is a slender, natural emblem in space and thanks to this slender nature it can be marked with strong colors, to harmonize with any kind of environment or taste.
